UPDATED | False Lashes 101

Greetings from LAS VEGAS! I am here for my birthday celebration, but I took the time (on my 5 hour flight) to write this blog post up! Hope you all are having a great weekend! I know I will!!!!

Applying false lashes can be one of the most frustrating things to do. It definitely takes patience, a steady hand as well as some ironclad techniques that make it easier. I remember when I first learned how to apply false lashes, it was horrible! For a while I never wanted to look at false lashes, but realized that by applying them, it took my eye makeup look to the next level. Unfortunately I was not blessed to have long and full lashes that my brother oh so conveniently inherited that genetic pool so I love to bump up my own lashes by using false ones. Below are a few tools as well as some tricks that can help you apply your lashes with a little less frustration!

Tools Need:

A pair of lashes – Any brand will do
Lash Glue – I prefer that DUO lash glue, but if you are allergic to latex, try to find a brand that is latex free
Pair of tweezers – This tool is optional. I prefer to use tweezers because it makes the application process a little easier to bear.
Mascara – Any brand will do.
Pair of scissors

Before jumping into applying your lashes there are a few steps that you need to do first. This will save you frustration but also insure that your lashes will adhere with much ease.

Determining Lash Size | All lashes come in a standard size. As we all know, everyone has a different eye shape as well as size. Some people have smaller eyes while others have larger eyes. The size of your eye will determine the length in which your lashes should be. As stated before, lashes come in a standard size, so before applying you have to make sure that the lash band is the right size for your eye shape.
Start by removing the lashes from the tray with care. Do not pull at your lashes, but place your finger on the lashes and roll down. This will release the lash from the tray. Once the lash is released, place the lash over your natural lashes. Look to see if the lashes are overlapping your natural lashes as well as in the frame of your natural lashes. If the lash is longer than your eye shape you have to trim your lashes.
Trimming Lashes | Trimming lashes is important to ensure that your lash will look as natural as possible. You do not want lashes longer than your eye shape. This will create a heavy look, thus causing the false lashes to look more unrealistic.
When trimming your lashes, you want to trim from the outside corner of the lashes rather than the inner corner. Most lashes have shorter lash hairs designated from the inner corner. If you cut the lash from that side, it will not look natural thus throwing off the correct placement in which the lash should rest on your eyes. You want to trim your lashes from the outer corner. When looking at the lash band, the lashes then to be grouped. When cutting your false lashes, only cut the grouped lashes to make sure that you are not over cutting. Once you have trimmed your lashes, place the lashes on your eye to make sure that they are the right size. If too long, proceed to the next lash grouping and trim.
Apply Mascara | Applying mascara before applying your false lashes will help to make your lashes blend with the false lashes. I recommend putting on mascara on before applying your false lash. I believe this will help with the longevity of your lashes because you are reducing any product buildup on your false lashes making them to hold up a little longer.
Applying Lashes | Now that you've determined your lash band size and have trimmed your lashes, it is now time to apply. Set your lash down to the side and prepare your glue. Take your lash glue and apply a small dot to the back or your hand or a mixing palette. Taking your tweezers, you want add a small amount of glue to the tweezers. Once the glue is on the tweezers, take your lash and apply a thin line of glue to the lash band. Avoid getting any glue on the actual lashes. To help ensure that your lash will stay in place, apply a little extra glue to the ends of your lashes.
Once the glue has been placed on the back of the lashes, take your tweezers and hold the lashes close to the lash band. Let your lash glue become TACKY. This means that the glue is drying but not completely dried. This will make it much easier to apply the lash. Once the lash glue is tacky, you want to place the false lash at the center of your eye. Avoid placing the lash on your natural lashes, but apply the false lash very close. Once the lash is in place, press down the outer and inner corners of the false lash. Now wait for your false lash to complete dry.

To help conceal your lash band, you can take liner (cream, cake, pencil or liquid) and create a line over the lash band. This will conceal the lash band and make it look more natural.

OCTOBER FAVORITES | 2013

Its that time again for the Beauty Monthly Favorites! Do you enjoy watching the many favorites videos as much as I do? I enjoy the favorite videos because it gives us viewers an opportunity to see what beauty and fashion items have been well loved or worn for the month. I also love these videos because its gives me even more motivation to add to my own collection of makeup (as if I don't already have enough lol).

October Favorites include the following beauty products | In no particular order

* Revlon Color Stay Whipped Foundation - I absolutely LOVE this foundation! Make sure to stay tune for an upcoming review and demo using this foundation.

* Sigma Flat Top Kabuki (F80) and Sigma Tapered Kabuki (F86) - So far I am enjoying my recent purchase from Sigma Beauty! These brushes have allowed me to have flawless foundation and concealer since the day I started using them!

* L'Oreal Million Luminous Mascara & Telescopic Shocking Extensions Mascara - Both of these mascaras have saved my baby lashes! I do not wear false lashes everyday so I have to make the best of the lashes I do have. Since using these mascaras TOGETHER, my lashes have been full, long and flirty!

* L'Oreal True Match Super Bendable Crayon Concealer - Best drugstore concealer by far! Use it every day and it makes my rushed morning make up application simple, yet very easy.

* L'Oreal Magic Lumi Highlighter - I love this highlighter! I am hesitant to stay that it is a dupe for MAC prep + prime highlighter because the products are so very different. I plan to do a comparison of both of these products very soon, so make sure to stay tune to my channel and my blog for an update.

* Hard Candy So Baked Bronzer - This bronzer has been the perfect, subtle highlighter that I have used. I hate over highlighted cheek bones (just my personal preference), but this works wonders, plus its affordable.

* Urban Decay All Nighter Makeup Setting Spray - Do I really need to say why I love this product so much? I mean its obvious! lol

* Tarte Maracuja C- Brightener Eye Treatment - So far this product has saved me from my insomnia nights! I treat my eyes before I go to bed, as well after I wake up and wash my face in the morning. This has truly been a Godsend!

* Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Wiz in Brunette - I am the first to admit that I am not the master of brows, but I am trying to get there. This product is by far the best brow pencil that I have tried in comparison to the plethora of brow products used before I purchased this.

* Organix  Hydrating Macadamia Oil Dry Styling Oil - Dry hair? Bad ends? Use this! It has helped me to pretty much go a year without a trim. Bad, yes I know, but to go almost a year with no split ends?!? That is unheard of.

* Wet n Wild Cherry Bomb Lipstick - On trend  for this fall. Love love love this shade!

* Tarte Lipgloss (no name) - This has to be the best everyday lip gloss. High quality, pigmented and not super sticky! Everything that you look for in a gloss, right?

Thanks for watching my October Favorites! Until next time.
